Plantar or Palmar Tactile Augmentation Improves Lateral Postural Balance With Significant Influence from Cognitive Load

چکیده

Although it seems intuitive to address the issue of reduced plantar cutaneous feedback by augmenting it, many approaches have adopted compensatory sensory cues, such as tactile input from another part body, for multiple reasons including easiness and accessibility. The efficacy might be limited due cognitive involvement interpret cues. objective this study is test hypothesis that augmentation more effective than providing cues on improving postural regulation, when reduced. In our experiments, six healthy human subjects were asked maintain their balance a lateral board long possible, until contacted ground, 240 trials with five interventions. During these instructed close eyes increase dependency balancing. Foam pad was also added emulate condition feedback. effects foot sole or palm standing tested applying transcutaneous electrical stimulation calcaneal ulnar nerve during tests, without cognitively-challenging counting task. Experimental results indicate only load, while palmar load. This result suggests location should carefully determined according attentional demands.

Saccadic Eye Movement Improves Plantar Sensation and Postural Balance in Elderly Women.

Vision, proprioception and plantar sensation contribute to the control of postural balance (PB). Reduced plantar sensation alters postural response and is at an increased risk of fall, and eye movements reduce the postural sway. Therefore, the aim of this study was to study the improvement of plantar sensation and PB after saccadic eye movement (SEM) and pursuit eye movement (PEM) in community-...

Luca Reduced plantar sensitivity alters postural responses to lateral perturbations of balance

There is considerable evidence that lower-limb somatosensation contributes to the control of upright balance. In this study, we investigated the specific role of foot sole cutaneous afferents in the generation of balance corrections following lateral accelerations of the support surface. Participants were subjected to balance perturba tions before and after targeted anesthesia of the cutaneous...

Palmar-plantar erythema associated with combination chemotherapy.

We report three cases of a distinctive palmar-plantar erythema associated with the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and acute myeloid leukaemia. The rash is characterized by a painful, sharply demarcated, intense erythema of the palms and/or soles followed by bulla formation, desquamation and healing. The eruption is self limiting in nature and did not adversely affect prognosis. Treatment n...

Effects of Plantar Flexor Muscle Static Stretching Alone and Combined With Massage on Postural Balance

OBJECTIVE To evaluate and compare the effects of stretching and combined therapy (stretching and massage) on postural balance in people aged 50 to 65 years. METHODS Twenty-three subjects participated in this nonrandomized clinical trial study. Each participant randomly received plantar flexor muscle stretching (3 cycles of 45 seconds with a 30-second recovery period between cycles) alone and ...
